With little notice, my friends (not really me) decided to come to my place for Thanksgiving. Rushing to the rain, trying to get the pumpkin color decor, the p-pie...
The stores were pretty empty, kind of the quietness before the storm. After an hour, only found a metal vase with the perfect color and shape that compliments the floor, however, with small scratches. No time to try more stores, I bought it. Threw several branches of burning bush to it, those with red berries, green stem, but no leaves any more, I gave the whole set a pottery-barn photo look.
The bakery sold all the p-pie out, they won't bake any more on t-day either. Impresssed by the horrible taste of the ppie from normal groceries, I collected the ingredients from quite several ailses to make my own pie.
Turkey? There were still tons of rock like turkeys on the shelf... That was beyond me. I still want to eat turkey on normal days, let me preserve the good memory about it by not cooking it myself. Anyway, these guys had no right to complain about meal because they gave me no time to prepare it.
One thing I couldn't control at all, and I knew it would happen, was the thursday pm traffic. For those who came from other states, 1 or 2 hours delay was normal. I tried my best to entertain the few who lived close by.
They came and left, praised my ppie, saying it was the best t-meal they had as they were sick turkey anyway.
"Isn't it a joy to have friends coming from far away"- Confucious (usually I spell his name as confusion...) Well, at least I still have the weekend for myself!
